The Millionaires’ Surtax campaign is a project of Americans for Tax Fairness, the Institute for Policy Studies and Patriotic Millionaires. Scores of other organizations and federal policymakers are supporting this effort.
This project is based on the belief that our economy is rigged in favor of the wealthy and corporations. We’re committed to changing that. We need a new direction to create a society and an economy that works for all of us, not just those at the top. That means the wealthiest Americans and corporations paying their fair share of taxes so we can better protect Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and invest in education, affordable childcare, decent housing, infrastructure, clean renewable energy and more.
As a first step, we believe a Millionaires’ Surtax is a relatively simple reform that would help narrow the wealth gap and raise significant revenue to address the nation’s many unmet needs. We are working with allies, activists and members of Congress to raise awareness and explain the benefits of the Millionaires’ Surtax and why we believe it should be enacted now.
